BKK to Chiang Mai – Trekking – Obliteration.

This will be a mixed up one, I’m writing this from the VIP bus between Chiang Mai and a place called Pai; I’m somewhat suffering from the effects of one night out, two days ago. We drank whisky and vodka by the bucket! Literally as that is how you often get drinks here.

The reason for the knees up was because it was due! No really it was just a dinner and drinks and dancing with 2 girls Lotte, and Leah both from Germany and a guy from New Zealand called Nick, we had all done a three day trek together and got on so decided to do dinner J

Dinner was nice and cheap, but 40 mins later I had to run for some toilet roll and hide in the girls loos of the Rasta Cafe. Embarrassment over, some vile JD and coke and I was all fine.

The evening was long, ill just summarise.. drink. Dance. Drink. Giggle. Make fools of self.. play cards.. gaps in time and space.. wake up with a bin next to my head for just in case sicking..

That’s that for the shameful evening, i definitely needed a good night out but now I’m paying for it.. its natural.

So back to Chiang Mai by day, on day one of arrival after our night train we didn’t really do much, just some shopping. I got my self some flip flops finally, a nice brown pair which i have difficulty walking in, i just don’t think that i am made for them, oh and for everyone else, flip-flops are also jandals and thongs.. hahahaha ill know all the lingo before i get to oz and nz.. which I’m kinda not that looking forward too now because that will symbolise the end of the real foreign travelling business.. kinda like Thailand is being atm..

Back to it, both feeling a little jaded by the ease of things, we visited a Wat on a hill, I cannot remember the name or find it out now. Wat is what they call the temples here..

After that day we went looking for some life, not seeing any fellow backpackers or having any real contact with Thais we went Sunday night clubbing,, the first place was dead. Then we found two girls at a hot dog stand who told us to come Spicys.

Spicys is a bit of a dump and stinks of fart, we drank out drink and left. Things we saw!.. Vile men trying to pickup local Thai girls. Vile men LICKING girls faces!.. Disgustingness…… eurgh, and our drinks tasted like Calpol.

“3 day 2 night Trek, excluding hill tribe”

We began the day with our usual breakfast, Omelette and Rice ( the plan has been to eat a big breakfast and skip lunch, but its not been happening.)

10ish the truck pulled up with our new buddies in. Lotte, Leah, Nick, an American couple, Jason and Josephine and a Scottish could who have been travelling for 11 months Michael and Tracy (hope thats right) they were a lovely couple and Keely and I tickled Tracy, she said we were funny hehe.

I’ve never had so many girlie friends in such little time. But my princess f is waiting for me in lapin land London J mtl mtl

Anyway, we took the truck for a few hours until it reached our first camp, first stop on our Disney land like trek.

We had a nice lunch and mounted our elephants. After a walk down to the river and back we were off and that part of the tour was ticked off, that’s how it felt.

I’ve screwed up the last sentence, I think lunch was second. Don’t really want to think about lunch now because I feel sick to my stomach…

So we then began the trekking part of the trek… it was hard, walking through the jungle and up banana tree lined hills.

I should have been fit, but it was sweaty business, we climbed to an altitude of about 1200ms, which is still high! There we found a hill tribe and our beds for the night, in a huge dorm. Ill upload pix of it, it was mega nice. No luxury just nice authentic feeling.

The nights a blur now, but we chatted, played cards and i showed off my porno lighter I brought from Bangkok. Hehe

The next day was quite short. We said goodbye to the two couples as they were not doing the full thing. We trekked through more jungle and found a waterfall to paddle in. Then had lunch, trekked some more and found another waterfall.

The next place we stayed at was a lot lower down and near a stream. We played more games and I taught about 12 people how to play Spoons, it’s like the best game ever hehee… the evening did drag a little when the bong came out so i went to bed.

The final day was one we had been looking forward too, we trekked some more for an hour or 2, jumped in a raft, jumped out of the raft for occasional swimming, that was the most fun, swimming in the current… oh and my watch is slightly leaking now and full of water L

After rafting, Nick and I steered bamboo rafts back to the beginning/elephant drinking place. I was hoping for some sunbathing but got work instead hihi.

I’m sure I have said ‘after’ too many times in this entry. I am feeling Obliterated. Obliterated is the word we have chosen to describe the current state of things. My fruit salad breakfast is literally attempting to leave by my nose atm.
I want to go to Myanmar, but don’t think it will happen. Urgh.. windy roads… need water.. gonna……..

Happy House – Rafting – Pussy Show

Ok where to start…. it’s been a couple of days it seems since I last made a big update… but infact it was only yesterday from Kathmandu airport lounge.

I am writing today’s entry from Happy House, just a few streets away from Kho San Road, in my tiny room, it’s about the size of a three single beds, I’m laying on and next to me is a similar size space followed by a similar sized ensuite consisting of a shower, loo and sink.

I’ll first fill you in on my penultimate day in Kathmandu and Nepal. Then I will tell you the juicy bits from this evening and my first day in Bangkok, Thailand.

It started off a little rickerty, that’s for sure. I woke up at six, got ready while the lights were on and scuttled down to the hotel reception for about 6:20.

After ten minutes of waiting I was wondering where my pickup was to take me to some river for my rafting. It turned out that the hotel front door was locked, I spoke to the guy sleeping on the floor, a good ol chap who gave me faith in Nepalese for sure :) he called the adventure company and before I knew it, I was bleary eyedly filling out insurance documents and all that next of kin malarkey.

It took time, as I was packed for the water, not form filling, so off I went back to my room to get the bits and bobs required. Once we were on our way I realised we were running late, we just made it to the local tourist bus which I was placed on and told to sit in the back. There was no room, but after the guy shouted there was. I sat down amongst a group of Germans, they were off rafting too, actually with me but they were staying overnight and camping.

The three and a bit hours to the rafting err launch was a bit harrowing, the roads and drivers are terrible… I was especially worried about getting back in time for my flight.

I met two Israelis who were travelling after doing their service and two ozzies. They are everywhere hihi, I seem to quite like them now, I am converting to talking about Pants and Thongs, when I mean trousers and flip-flops (can anyone notice my typings slightly different today, thanks to the Lenovo S10 (Hugh, Ka you can look it up, should run OSX and Windows 7) on another note, everyone, Indians, Nepalese, Israelis, all in the same boat, less jobs… talking of recession.

Back to the rafting, it was good, not quite white, but when we hit some white parts it was AMAZING. Such a buzz, holding on with your feet and paddeling for dear life. The morning half wasn’t as fun as there was an old man in front of me who couldn’t quite keep up a steady pace, causing me to hit paddles with him. Anyway it’s definitely something for me to try, after checking what grade my insurance goes up to.

Lunch was basic salad, tuna and biscuits, I skipped the tuna, but the salad sarnie was acceptable. Turns out it was a cheap trip, but I had no expectations so it was all good.

The trip home was a very authentic local bus, just popped on it 4 hours from Kathmandu and left to my own devices, in the dark nepali evening, with hardly any electricity, I managed to make my way back, and to my hotel via some haggling at the station.

Looking at my notes this is going to be a mammoth entry, thank the real keyboard.

So, I am in Bangkok now, I wasn’t this time last night. About this time I had finished my burger king whopper meal in Singapore airports beautiful transit lounge, I had wandered in and out of some really nice shops (note I’ve been rather cut off recently) it was heavenly for some reason, so shiny and electronic. Singapore airport transit lounge and transit hotel are certainly worth a place on people’s itineraries hahaha, I was well impressed with a hot shower, free wifi for my iPhone laptop and everything else.

The place was amazing, have I said that already, there were mini cinemas, cool places to eat, truck sized HD TV’s, interactive floor projections.. Did I mention free internet? Drinking water? Koi ponds? Trees? And there was a gym (no kit, but I have taken to pressups in the room)

The flight was nice too, I started watching Australia the movie, it was good what I saw, maybe I’ll try download it for tomorrows train journey to Chaing Mai, on arrival I was greeted by the super new modern airport, immeeeeeeeeense. First stop cash machine, fucking NatWest had blocked my card. But my egg money card put out so all was good for me to proceed to buy a dtac happy sim, and a Airport Express bus ticket.

I met a guy on the bus called Karl-Fredrick from Sweden, friendly chap, here to dive for a while and visit Borneo, part time graphic designer and full time beard grower hehehe.. it was nice to chat to a friendly face who was sorta in the same neck of the woods, we got off at what we thought was Kho San, but it wasn’t…close tho, We approached the first guest house, it looked nice, he’d heard of it… so we said Caio, and now here I am…

Bangkok is balmy, cleaner than anywhere else ive been so far, the people accept No when you dont want some crap, well mostly except for the suit sales men, they are all quite freindly tho. Touch wood err somewhere if i could find some,.. it seems rather pleasant and i shall oy my stay here very much. If of course I can curb the spending as its gone crazy here today.

In the afternoon today I hooked up with Keeley, a friend from London, Delhi, Pushkar…crossing paths.. oh and I forgot, I also got screamed at through a taxi window by two guys I went to Everest with, they are off to Chaing Mai too.

After some wandering up and down and buying of train tickets we decided to make the most of the evening and go to Patong. Sounds a bit like ping pong doesn’t it..

WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe don’t read this bit.

The taxi driver drove us down some dark, yet posh alley, to a wooden door, which thankfully wasnt going to open. I think the driver would have got commission at that shady place, but it was shut, so we went on to the market area, bumped into some official guy who dragged us to a ’show’ we stopped short of going in because we finally managed to explain we wanted to see the show in an hour not now, wanted some dinner and a stiff drink first.

We had a nice Thai of course dinner and a cocktail each. I was regretting the choice of clothing I was wearing and all the gadgetry in my bag. Our ‘main man’ came and collected us and escorted us to a different club, for what was to be less an eye opener and more of a bottle opener.

We didn’t know what to expect, we paid our 500THB (about 10 quid), that included a drink; we sat down, in a seedy looking smallish night club type thing, with a load of poles on a stage. It was just us at the beginning, well the first 45 mins of the show even, well us and ‘Mamma’. she said that’s what she was, Mamma Sit, she was the ring leader.. haaha, she explained a lot to us, and I think she fancied my mate…creeeeepy.

Anyway, I’ll summarise a little as to what we saw and what goes on in these places.

Some girls dance, while every few mins a ropey older one will come out
and do her thang. We had the following:

Firstly and most shockingly one girl pulls out over a meter of string with flowers on, ultraviolet reactive…… then we had

Colour changing water, she turned water into coke, but via her …..

Pin shooting to pop baloons (via a straw) but like a few meters away.

Same air theme, with blowing out candles..

Sucking up and egg, tossing it and cracking it…

.. Something that was really icky the silly cow fired a banana at me, I luckily jumped out of the way….grossssssss I have showered twice and scrubbed down in star bucks too.

At the end, one of the girls who had been dancing all night stopped, dropped her drawers and pulled out a long long string with needles attached.
pull out neeleds on string.

But the most funny, fun, icky bit was in fact the ping pongs.

Picture this, two of us, sitting front row, seedy place, bit tipsy, other people slowly coming in, while a girl is firing about 8 balls a minute at us, while we bat them with table tenis bats towards another naked woman holding a small bin, I really whaked it, we both did, it was a case of DONT LET THE BALLS NEAR YOU, SO BAT THEM AWAY. it was sick but incredibly fun.

hmmmmmm really late again here.. Hope to find wifi and post this in morning.. its a longen.

xo xo

Sex Tourist.

p.s oops was gonna mention the creepy look they give you if you look at them like your liking it, they totally go for it eeeeeeeeeek
